We evaluated their learning curves and other features like controller compatibility, rooting options, and screen recording capabilities, among other things. We also checked whether the emulators had ads and if they had ad-free premium plans. We assessed their performance, system requirements, and account login process. We then considered whether they were better suited for gaming or general app usage. We've tested the best Android emulators across numerous aspects, starting with their ease of setup and interface. Lastly, look out for additional features like recording capabilities, gamepad compatibility, and rooting options. Make sure to look out for the account login process because some emulators may not let you use an existing account login. It'll help to check whether the emulator has ads (and how pesky they are). You'll want to evaluate the emulator's ease of use, interface, performance, and pricing. If it's only for gaming, you'll want a gaming-oriented emulator, but if it's for general app use, then your options are different. When choosing the best Android emulator for yourself, start with assessing what you primarily intend to do with it. How to choose the best Android emulators for you? We've also featured the best free cloud apps for business. There is a wealth of keyboard mapping options to enhance your gaming, and you have the option of installing software through the Google Play Store, or by dragging and dropping APKs on to the program window. With support for Intel and AMD chips, as well as integrated and dedicated graphics, support levels are very good here. To get the best performance, it is recommended that you enable virtualization for your CPU. Given that its full name is MEmu Play, it should come as no surprise that – once again – the focus here is on gaming. It is one of the newer Android emulators on the block, but MEmu has managed to make quite a name for itself – and with good reason. Read our full BlueStacks App Player review. Overall, though, performance is decent assuming your hardware is reasonably powerful, making this a great way to bring Android to the big screen. In our experience set up was simple and easy, and we could install Summoners War fine, but we couldn't use an existing account login so watch out for that. The free one includes some ads and the occasional sponsored app, but these are pretty discreet.īlueStacks is primarily about games and the interface is essentially a front end for downloading and installing them, but it's also possible to visit the Google Play Store and search for other apps and if you want to add apps and games from other sources, you have the option of using standalone APK files. There are free and paid-for versions available. BlueStacks has been designed with ease of use in mind, and looks and feels just like Android on a tablet or smartphone. While Windows 11 introduces the ability to set up a virtual install of Android, there are plenty of people still using Windows 10, plus of course, all of the Mac users.īlueStacks App Player is perhaps the best-known Android emulator, and it's hardly surprising given its quality and reliability. But, if you’re hoping to do some gaming, you’ll want to take advantage of one of these emulators. Since many Android business apps are already SaaS-based cloud apps, you might find using a browser on your desktop PC to be just as easy for those. But, with an emulator, you can edit and upload photos from your PC or Mac desktop – something you just can't do otherwise. Unless you’re on the mobile app, you’re limited in what you can do with the social media platform. Or, maybe you want to run an app that’s only available on Android. You can not only do that with one of these Android emulators but you can simulate various screen sizes and phone models as well, letting you see how it does in different circumstances. Maybe you’re working on an app for Android and want to test it on a computer instead of a mobile device. Portrait Puzzles delivers high quality puzzles fast. Hugin's HDR_Merge output can sometimes produce nice results, but in my experience that happens perhaps 2 out of every 5 times, and the other three border on unusable. CPFind and Nona are both painfully slow, and both Enblend and Enfuse frequently crash for me on multiple computers, at least two of which have 12GB of ram. Hugues comment wasn't terribly constructive, but that doesn't change the reality that Hugin has some significant issues compared to its competitors. I could maybe try harder to get around the quirks hugin is throwing my may, and every time I install a new hugin I really want to believe that this is the one that finally works, it is not the easiest task for users like me. as it stands right now, I have never in my whole pano life managed to get a single panorama out of hugin, and I really tried (please don't bash me as a pano beginner). being confronted with more wx errors, and no way to assign the same lens parameters to all source images (at least not in a obvious way), I am going to give up today, since no control points could be found, and maybe try again tomorrow. then I load a bunch of small fisheye tiffs (no exif data), load them, and get asked to enter exif data for each of the 18 tiffs, one by one (my mind hovers again next to the "should I just delete it again and come back in 6 months?"). I finally found a mac 2014.0rc2 version, installed it, launched it, and get confronted with wxwidget error messages. I do this process about every 6-9 months, and in the past it was always the same result: i couldn't use it (and this could be very much a PEBKAC). it takes some serious looking around to find a recent binary. In addition, to block, you can use hosts or firewall. The beginning hurdle for me as an end user is finding a downloadable binary, since is the official homepage, but not maintained since last year. If you can’t accept it, please switch to other similar websites that can be found everywhere on the Internet. It’s a pity to do so, but this website has reached an unsustainable bottom line. Since advertising revenue can no longer offset the expenditure of VPS and bandwidth, AppNee finally decided to block ad-block plugins since August if the result is not as expected, we may manually block all users who are blocking AppNee’s ads according to the server log. Later, we will try to restore all software updates if possible, but we still can’t fix any older versions of software – because this data disaster is the worst in the past 10 years, there is any backup. In an effort to make up as much of the loss as possible, until recently we were able to revert updates to some smaller apps. The reason is that our 2TB hard drive is physically dead (the data on it cannot be recovered with a normal recovery), and everything about our website is stored on it (the source code of website and software projects, especially all released and reserved versions of software – many of them are out of print, and you can’t find and download them anywhere except AppNee on the entire Internet). Firstly, I would like to thank Rosaura, the hotel's wedding coordinator. Ultimately, credit for our perfect holiday goes to the hotel staff. We have been at Margaritaville for just over a week and it has been the most enjoyable stay we have ever had. So to sum it up, great holiday, great staff, lovely hotel and good location, will go back for longer.… look out for stuff you don't want to meet up close but a great adventure and amazing experience, loads of stars as there is no light pollution and the guides only have a red torch, no other lighting is allow and you need to wear dark clothes and long pants plus mossy spray. Word of warning, to get to the beach is not for the unsteady and good foot wear is a must as it is quite a difficult trek in the dark with a small torch through a forestry bit i.e. We talked with other guess who did different excursions and all had a wonderful time as we did seeing wild life and specially the trip to see turtles laying eggs on the beach at night heading in and out of the sea. The resort boat is cool, we did a sunset cruise, one word, brilliant and again the crew, fab, watered/beered/wined and fed us, nice. Had a great walk from the hotel with the activities manager, who pointed out all kinds of interesting things and views. Every morning after breakfast we walked the entire length end to end seeing different wild life. The near by beach is lovely and the sea, however the waves can be a strong so have fun with them. The hotel was just the right size for a chilled out holiday, just what we were looking for. We even met the manager as we came back from a morning walk where all the staff were having a group photo as a team building exercise out the front entrance by the giant flip flop, then they went of to do deep cleaning in different areas of the hotel they don't normally working in with their different colleagues, very impressive. We had a great time at Its 5 o'clock Somewhere and again great staff. All the food was good and good size portion, some of the sandwiches are big specially the club -). The food is really good and even though we didn't have a pizza they look good. The staff in the Italian restaurant were great welcoming us each time as if it was our first plus the front of house doing little extras to make it special. Every morning at breakfast we were greeted really nicely and the lovely ladies who prepared our omelettes even help teach us some Spanish. The staff at all the bars were great and also the different restaurants. There was always cleaning being done or doing some tidying up to keep the hotel in good order. Had a great time (7 days) here, the staff are amazing, always happy saying hello and making sure everything is alright, this included the maintenance, shop, house keeping and security staff as well. I couldn’t recommend Margaritaville enough, we would definitely stay there again and so happy we chose them for our honeymoon!. The marina was walking distance from our hotel and has souvenir shops, coffee shops, a grocery store, and restaurants. We booked a snorkel and sunset cruise on the resort’s yacht and that was fabulous!. We used their transportation shuttle to and from the airport, which was on time and great!. The hotel will provide boogie boards and chairs for the beach as well, but we usually rented a canopy and chairs from some of the locals because we needed shade!. We didn’t spend too much time at the pool because chairs were hard to come by, but the beach was steps from the resort and that was amazing!. The food, especially the breakfast was amazing and all of our drinks were delicious!. We did the all inclusive package and definitely recommend that!. The room was great, it was a standard room with a king size bed and a very large balcony!. They left a nice gift of wine and dessert in our room because it was our honeymoon!. The staff was accommodating, polite, and took great care of us!. We spent 8 nights at Margaritaville for our honeymoon!. I could find a replacement web calendar that supports Outlook 2010 synchronization (for a single work calendar). But I did manage to migrate at least 75%. OK, so I didn’t completely free myself from Googles’ grip. But I will probably still be looking for that perfect “Google Notebook” as a low priority. I will likely continue to use it because the mobile application interfaces are so stellar. Now when I want to find it I can open tag search then:Ī) Select ITM6 and browse the names until I see “ITM6 Info – Port Usage”.b) Select Ports and browse the names until I see “ITM6 Info – Port Usage”. For the note in the example above I set tags to make finding it easy: ITM6, Ports. Example: “ITM6 Info – Port Usage” where this note is in the space “IBM/Tivoli”. As mentioned above, setting the first line of a note into two sections to form the name. Here are some usage notes that make working in Catch efficient: Not huge, but would be nice on those occasions when a picture is worth a thousand words. The tagging system coupled with clever note naming mitigates this to some extent, but it would still be nice. This would enable the division of a notebook into sections of related notes. What would I like to see, aside from the above three complaints: For me, I find myself setting the first line into text that breaks into two sections (section – subject). Note names are taken from the first line of the note.Clever use of CAPS and symbols (-, *, etc) helps but really isn’t a substitute. There is no ability to mark text up richly (ie: bold, italics, bullets, etc).Web interface locks the width of notes to a pre-set size.I set colors based on type of topic which makes it easier to find things. It’s on par with Evernote thanks to their use of tags. It’s faster than Evernote, especially the web version. Nice interface on all platforms (web, iPhone, iPad). With the free version you’re alloted so many with the ability to “earn” more via referrals. I replicated all my notes to Catch and decided to use it for a while and see if it fulfilled my needs. Add reminder, picture, note, voice memo, or checklist (which is implemented well). The iPhone and iPad apps are very nice and intuitive as well. They have a decent web front end with only a couple of minor annoyances, but overall it’s a pretty slick service. It’s a note application that is geared toward efficient use on mobile devices (ie: not the desktop or web). Their iPad application is a giant poo fest as well.Ī few months ago I discovered Catch. With that growth it has become slower and bulkier. Over time Evernote has grown a lot through company acquisitions and feature enhancements. I still use OneNote at work and only to store material that cannot be stored anywhere else due to policy, but that’s it – no sync anywhere. OneNote had all the features I need, but I don’t like the desktop application – at all. Simplenote also fell short in the way it implemented rich text markup. Simplenote did not have folders, only tags, but did manage notes fairly well. I ended up migrating to Evernote after trying a couple of other solutions, including Simplenote and Microsoft OneNote. Evernote is close, very close, but not quite the same. I’ve tried a number of different solutions over the last few years, but none have felt quite like Google Notebook did. You can’t use it all now: Google Notebook FAQ. At any rate there would be no more improvements to it. The let you keep Notebook for some time but you couldn’t use it if you didn’t already have Notebook service. Docs is meant to be an online Office suite and it fills that role nicely enough, but it doesn’t manage notes (documents) into notebooks (folders) very well. While similar, they are distinctly different. I guess they felt there was overlap in the services, who knows. About the time Google released Docs they announced Notebook would be discontinued. It had rich text, managed folders, multiple notes, blah blah blah. A long time ago I used Google Notebook for managing all my notes. Pull up in your pajamas - no one will think twice, and you can have breakfast in your PJs. One of the beauties of drive-thrus is that no one cares what you're wearing. Get your dozen hot glazed doughnuts here and you will be transported to another level. Located near the cool, modular drive-thru Starbucks on NE 167th Street is a drive-thru Krispy Kreme, otherwise known as Heaven. This modern marvel earned Sergio's a "Best of Miami" 2015 award for Best Drive-Thru. So next time you're craving vaca frita or lechón asado, you don't have to sit down or take it to go, because there's a new option in town: Sergio's ventanita. Sergio's has been a staple since 1975, but fast-forward 30 years, and now you can get the same food you've always loved at a drive-thru. Also order the classic pupusa with cheese and loroco. Try the Super Antojitos Atlakat, a Salvadoran sampler with a bit of everything for $12.99. The pupusa is one of Central America's most glorious foods, and El Atlakat makes it correctly. Salvadoran food at a drive-thru is unexpected, but it's welcomed with open hands and mouths. Get there early, because this drive-thru line flows into the street. The Sweet Potato Stacker - grilled chicken, sour cream, guacamole, real bacon bits, and cheese piled into baked sweet potatoes - is too sweet to be missed. Yeah, those are fighting words, but taste it and see. If you're looking for big portions of healthful food from the confines of your car, head to 3 Chefs and a Chicken (8195 Bird Rd., Miami 30). The whole world doesn't have to know you need an extra-hot Venti Skinny Vanilla Latte with three Splendas and one pump of chocolate. The benefit is that you also get to order your embarrassingly complicated drink with some privacy, like a confessional. You can see the same pastry case with croissants and cake pops and the baristas in green aprons frothing and pumping your beverage, but you can't get too close. It is strictly a drive-thru and window walk-up. This cool space is only 614 square feet, with no room for customers to plug in and hang out. Thankfully, near the interchange is one of the coolest Starbucks - it's all drive-thru (199 NE 167th St.). If you and the family want something beyond seafood, try the fried chicken gizzards.īefore tackling the Turnpike, Palmetto, or I-95, you might need a caffeine fix. Each dinner is served with fries and a piece of white bread hiding underneath to soak up all the greasy deliciousness. This fast-food restaurant is known for its fried fish, but it also has sides that are not to be missed, like savory hush puppies, fried okra, mac 'n' cheese, pigeon peas and rice, and fresh conch salad. Grab an Oreo or brownie-batter Blizzard for the road or, if you want to be healthier, get an Orange Julius drink and slurp up Americana. If you want to step out of the comfort of your car, step inside to look at the ice-cream cakes, and you can see how involved the owners are with the community. This location has been there for 28 years. But the Dairy Queen in the Bird Ludlam Shopping Center (4040 Ludlam Rd., Miami 30) will show you the magic of Blizzards, and you'll probably have a good time with the owner. Miamians know hurricanes we don't do snowstorms. Later in the day, go for the ribs and some of the most delicious mac 'n' cheese. In the morning, you can have fluffy pancakes and eggs. If someone dares to ask, "What she order, fish fillet?" just roll your eyes, because at Esther's, you can have the fried catfish, okra-and-tomato stew, and congri. And if you go to the location on NW 103rd Street just off I-95, you can experience the glory of Esther's from the comfort of your car. If you have never been to one of Esther's three locations, they do "real food to go fast," specializing in a mix of Cuban and soul food. Read our list below, and we'll see you at the next window. You can find a window to meet any of your cravings. They serve beverages, sweets, hot food, soul food, snacks, groceries, and full meals. Beyond the usual fast-food chains, though, there are some lesser-known drive-thrus. Miamians spend a lot of time in their cars, and they really love food, so it's surprising the city doesn't have more drive-thru windows. Even more, there are three primary speed settings to choose from and an Auto Mode to prevent over tightening. The variable speed trigger also lets you dial in your speeds for the application at hand. Their performance specs are identical, with up to 250 ft-lbs of breakaway torque, an impact rate of 3,800 IPM, and a top speed of 3,200 RPMs thanks to their brushless motor. Also when I post the build of the stand you may see some opportunities there that Id like to hear you opinion on as well. The R8720B and R8721B right-angle impact wrenches feature 3/8-inch and 1/2-inch drives, respectively. I am going to be making a bunch of small shaping hardy tools, a couple of them out of railroad rail for doing artwork. All in all, for what I am doing, I like the large flat area for flatening things. I was kind of planning on making this a utility workpiece. I have been focusing more on the design and function of the forge than the anvil. The forge I am building (which will come in another post) has a two burner cavity that is 8" Inside diameter and about 18 inches long inside. Bigest things I plan on forging is maybe 2 to 5 lbs. It is a tool that I plan on using for whatever it works best for until I can afford a better anvil. The only reason it is so big is because that was the size of forks that I had. what kind of filler do you think I should use for that? I am considering that pretty hard.Īll in all, it is just going to me a one man show. Lining your plates up vertically puts a lot more solid steel under your blows, just takes a lot more welding and grinding to make the surface nice. Drilling a bunch of holes in the bottom of the two flat plates and plug welding it to the top plate would go a long way towards reducing this problem though.Īlso it’s the kind of thing you’d want to take into account if you ever decide to fabricate a large anvil for a power hammer. This might become a problem if you decide to start professionally forging anchor chains for large ships, other wise you could be ok. This can lead to a bit of a spring effect that causes you to lose energy to internal vibration, energy that could otherwise be transferd into your work.Īt the end of the day all this means for you is that you anvil simply won’t be in the same class as solid anvils of the same weight. On the other hand, it’s not good at maintaining machined flat surfaces that continue to match up perfectly under heavy loads. On one hand, that’s what makes it good for an anvil, it delivers rebound. Steel is not that ridgid, unlike cast iron. Where it could become a problem is with heavy work with striker teams. I suspect it won’t be quite as nice as a solid anvil, but it may be pretty damn close. Stacking plates horizontally with welding only around the edge creates a large flat disconnect under your hammer blows.įor one person wielding a one handed hammer, it’s probably going to work pretty well due to the thickness of the top plate.
